This week we made good progress in both the design and art sectors.
Merrix worked some magic and we now have a dungeon generator of sorts! It was really exciting to finally have the ability to just spit out a map of dungeons and hallways. Randomly generated dungeons are something we’ve planned for the game for some time, so it’s essential that this works well. I’m happy to say, Merrix’s design seems solid.
Then again, I know very little actual programming theory or coding, myself – soooooo take that evaluation as you will.
Me, I just kept worked on modeling, rigging, and animating enemies. We now have a Bat…

I just realized how much the TIE Fighters from Star Wars look like bats.
And I made Orklings. They are intended to be something between a kobold/imp and an orc, and they work on the same armature and animation suite as the other humanoids, though they’ll be a bit smaller.

Would you rather fight 1 horse-sized Orkling, or 30 the size of chickens?
I also started work on a vine monster:

(Mesh and armature, shown from the same angle and pose)
Dealing with the skeleton for a creature with eight asymmetrical, randomly placed limbs, of various sizes and lengths, is a challenge. But it’s a fun one.
We’re excited to share more with you as we go along, so check in next week to see how this project progresses. Thanks for joining us today!
