Progress Report 1-10-19 | Prestige System Development

Hey everyone! Welcome back. Today’s blog is a progress update, just letting you know what OgreWare has been up to. This week, the focus has been the Prestige system in Calling All Heroes.

A prestige mechanic, for those not in the know (like I was until my most recent meeting with OgreWare), allows for a game’s player to essentially reset the game – to start over from square one – but with some serious buffs that make gameplay faster, easier, and more powerful in the new reset. Calling All Heroes’ version of prestige involves a forbidden scroll and a dimensional rift that allows you to step into a “new dimension” – a reset version of the game – where you have new or different powers.

Here’s how it works: After your Mission Hall reaches a certain level, you have the chance of getting a special Mission that will reward you with a special item: the Forbidden Scroll. When you use it, it will reset the game back to the beginning – but you’ll gain a permanent boost to your income, and you will have the choice of one of three randomly selected additional boosts. Examples of these would include “Missions run faster,” “Buildings complete faster,” “Permanent upgrade to troop’s starting level,” or “Buildings already exist when you reach that dimension.”

You might also get the chance to have a temporary, “one-dimension” buff that will only last through one dimension/playthrough, but these buffs are incredibly powerful, running along the lines of “Missions finish instantly” or “payouts are up 500%.” But if you choose one of these temporary buffs, it’ll only last through that particular dimension. The regular prestige buffs are permanent, meaning that they will last throughout all your playthroughs.

Technically, the first time you play through – the one you’re playing right now – is the weakest you’ll ever be in Calling All Heroes. Every reset, every single one, will have a significant, tangible boost, regardless of what you choose. So you can’t make a bad choice, really – some are better than others, and you can certainly decide to optimize your game as much as possible – but you will always get stronger.

So, bear in mind, the Prestige system is not in place yet – OgreWare is still working on it; we just wanted to put some info about it in a blog so that our players understand what’s going to be implemented, and aren’t too surprised when the Prestige system update comes along.

As always, thank you so much for your support. Click here to play Calling All Heroes in your browser, or here to download the .apk for your Android device. Drop us a line with the contact form if you have any questions or comments. And have an awesome day!
