I have big news this week. And I mean BIG news. Big enough news that we are not going to even HAVE a Troop Spotlight this week – and I’m just going to jump right into why…
I am very happy to announce that the Calling All Heroes open beta is coming this Thursday, September 13, 2018!
That’s right, the game you’ve been hearing so much about (and might have played an older version of) is coming to a platform near you! Exactly which platform(s) will be available is still being worked out, but I promise you’ll be able to play it in SOME way or form on Thursday.
OgreWare has been working around the clock lately, working on getting everything optimized for the beta launch. They’ve restructured a lot, made the map more responsive, and Calling All Heroes is running a lot faster than before. It’s also been extensively stress-tested. Just generally double- and triple-checks to make sure it’s all ready for YOU to play.
It’s really exciting to be part of a beta launch. Working with OgreWare is the first time I’ve been involved with an actual video game creation process, and it’s been an honor to be privy to the ups and downs of an indie game developer’s path to releasing their first game. It has not always been a smooth process, but what creative process is? I certainly go through ups and downs with my own creative projects, and that’s just the nature of the beast.
Seeing the innovative ways that OgreWare has navigated around the issues, however, is probably what’s been most educational for me. Recognizing and solving problems requires creativity as well as awareness and hard work, so OgreWare, really, is perfectly suited for the kind of problem solving they’ve done over the course of this project.
I’ve learned a lot and I am so glad that I have been involved. And I’ll continue to be! Nah, I’m not writing my resignation speech. I’m just reminiscing over the past months. I’m still very much involved with Calling All Heroes, as well as…other secret projects…some of which are, yes, with OgreWare.
Let’s face it: game design is just too much fun! I’m here to stay. 🙂
Thanks so much for your support thus far, and please, enjoy the game. A link will be provided in Thursday’s blog and of course it’ll be all over the site and the Facebook page. So stay tuned!
