Hello everyone! Another full week in the books. We’re excited to share the progress we made this week.
Art-wise, I finished modeling and texturing the scenery assets for the first zone of the game. We’ve got everything from trees, buildings, and ruins, down to tiny flowers, clovers, and gravel to break up the monotony of any “empty” spaces. In theory, we have all the models we’ll have for that area.

We both did a lot of clean-up work this week; I went over all my models with a fine-toothed comb and made sure I was sticking to naming conventions (spoiler: I was not), and re-exported everything. Our designer worked on code review and refactoring, and put in a lot of hours getting things reconnected after reimporting my up-to-date models.
One thing I’m proud of this week is that we spent a full three hours on this on Saturday. We didn’t plan that – our designer was just on a roll and we thought “hey, why not.” …Okay, to be honest, I thought “why not” at the start of the second hour, but at the start of the third it was more “what exactly are we doing?!” It was an intense marathon, but we got so much done that I think we’ll have to do it again sometime.
This blog is a little late due to weekend schedules, but we’re still at it, and still excited to keep bringing you this game. Bit by bit, it’s coming together!
